Rome'in Around - Part 2

Looking through my Italy photos, I realized they are not as complete as I would have liked. I generally try to take photos of both the insane things (Colosseum) and normal things (hotel, subway, street corners). Sadly, I don't really have much of the latter here, so I'll just have to use words to narrate the rest.

After visiting the Colosseum, we began to head to a large park that was said to have some nice views. Along the way, however, we got sidetracked by a museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci. With a student ID, it was severely discounted, so we decided to enter. The following are a number of his drawings physically created. I shot a couple of the more interesting ones.

 Efficiency.

Yeah, this one was a bit strange.

As was this one. He certainly knew how to think outside of the box.

Afterwards, we headed toward our original destination, but either couldn't remember how to get there or just got completely sidetracked by the shopping area (pictured above). The statues are numerous in Rome, and the architecture is really amazing. At times it feels like everything is made of stone.

We continued walking, stopped into a couple stores, ooh'ed and ahh'ed at the expensive designer stores Rome is somewhat known for, and eventually heard running water and the sound of a big crowd...

The Trevi Fountain. As pictured and captured in countless photos and movies. Really breathtaking to see in person.

Excuse the color difference from picture to picture. I was experimenting a bit with the night setting on my camera. Apparently 'night shot' means to add yellow. I was able to get it back to a more natural color, thankfully.

Lots of people making wishes and tossing coins over their shoulders. I was able to catch this person mid toss.

I'll be honest, I don't know that much about the fountain. There is a lot to know, obviously, and if you want to learn it, go here.

Good shot right here showing just how many people were actually here. It was probably 8 or 9 at night at this point, and it got more and more crowded. People of pretty much every nationality were here. I ran into some Spaniards at one point, Americans, lots of Asian people, some from Africa. Quite the melting pot. The worst part? The dudes walking around with fake flowers trying to get you to buy something. They were pretty unrelenting; they'd try to stick the flower in your pocket and then ask for money. Really annoying.

A shot from the other side of the fountain.

Is he pointing at something? OR.....is he changing the channel? You decide.

(sorry)

The next day, we decided to hit up another big site in Rome: the Spanish Steps. Also know nothing about this, but Wikipedia does. Again, quite crowded. Again, many people trying to sell you stupid stuff.

View from the bottom, looking up.

A cool fountain at the base of the Steps.

Here we are, beginning to climb up and get away from the crowd a bit.

A nice little niche restaurant overlooking the landmark.

Check this kid out. I don't know what he was supposed to be, but he clearly was making it work.

Walked around a bit after this, and decided to see our next sight...

 The Pantheon. Pretty incredible.

Free entrance, and while we were inside there was a choir performing. It gave the whole thing a very surreal feel. Made it feel even more epic than normal, if that's even possible.

Sadly, that's all I really have for Rome. I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked. The weather we had while there wasn't ideal to say the least...it was pretty rainy one day and completely down-pouring on our final day. It hampered the trip a bit, but we still had fun.
